Nia Johnson, AMFT is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who obtained a dual masters degree from Holy Names University in Counseling Psychology and Forensic Psychology. Nia works with her clients to provide a safe, welcoming and individualized space for each client as she knows that every client is a unique individual with their own experiences. Through a collaborative effort and utilizing a person-centered approach, in which Nia holds a non-judgmental perspective and creates space for self-exploration with her clients, Nia will accompany and support you on your journey toward change. Nia provides her clients with guidance and collaboratively uncovers past experiences with her clients to help them discover how these experiences shape who they are today, while uncovering any wounds or past traumas that may be hindering her clients from achieving positive growth. Nia specializes in trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, teen and adolescent issues, life transitions, PTSD and family functioning and communication issues. Nia’s experience with clients also includes members of the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC community as well as couples and individuals who have experienced domestic violence. Nia’s experience in the field ranges from treating the re-entry and incarcerated populations to community mental health organizations and private practice. Nia’s approach to therapy is one of an eclectic style in which she draws from different therapeutic perspectives including, psychodynamic, trauma-informed, strengths-based and culturally-sensitive approaches to address the needs of her clients while acknowledging and respecting their unique experiences. Nia enjoys watching Netflix reality TV shows such as, The Circle and Love is Blind, attending concerts and traveling, while also spending time with family and friends.
